Visual Art Classes at JCC of Youngstown

The Paul & Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will offer two art courses beginning March 2.

In Experience Art! students will explore a variety of art techniques including drawing, painting, collage, and more. Each week will focus on a different medium. Dates for the course are Mondays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, April 6, 13, and 20. The course for grades 1 to 4 is from 5 to 6 p.m. The course for grades 5 to 8 is from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

In Drawing 101 students develop and practice drawing skills while experimenting with various tools, pencils, pastels, etc. over an eight week course. The first few sessions cover the basic elements of art such as line, value, and texture. Any skill level is welcome. Experienced students will be challenged to improve and learn new techniques. Point of view and perspective principles are discussed with students who are at the appropriate skill level. This course for ages 14 and up is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, April 6, 13, and 20.

The cost for each course is $56 for JCC members and $75 for non members. All supplies are included in the class fee unless otherwise noted. Register by Friday, Feb. 28 at jccyoungstown.org.There is a three student minimum per course.
