American Pop Artist/Author Michael Albert brings his “Modern Pop Art Experience” to Youngstown, Ohio this summer as part of his Summer Pop Art Tour. New York-based Albert who is the author of an artist autobiography titled, “An Artist’s America” (published by Henry Holt in 2008) is known for making detailed and colorful collages out of cereal boxes and other printed cardboard consumer packages including crackers, cookies, soda cartons, frozen pizza boxes, etc.
He will be betaking his art on the road and bringing his unique program for kids, teens, and families to over 100 libraries, museums, and festivals in 18 states from June-August. In Ohio, in addition to the OH Wow! Children’s Museum, Albert will be also visiting the Pickerington Public Library for a Summer Reading Library program and the Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy for their Arts & Minds Festival. *See his Homepage for the full tour schedule.
Mr. Albert will be visiting the OH Wow! Children’s Museum on Sunday, August 4th from 10am-4pm for a special art-making session in their Maker Space with school-age kids, teens, and their parents. Participants in this program will be introduced to the artist and his work, view examples of his Modern Pop Art creations and then have a chance to create their own collage using the same materials he uses to create his masterpieces. All those who make a collage will receive a free signed limited edition poster (choosing from a selection of over 14 different prints), compliments of the artist.
In the past decade, Albert has brought this program to over 1,000 libraries and museums all over the USA and in Europe. This will be his third time bringing his art to OH Wow! for his Summer Reading Pop Art Tour. He has a special place in his heart for this wonderful place of art and learning!
